Future Inspection and Deterioration Prediction Capabilities for Buried Distributed Water Infrastructure

This paper examines the role of pipe deterioration prediction approaches for optimizing maintenance, repair, and rehabilitation buried water supply, wastewater collection, drainage networks. It is appreciated that there are other ancillary assets within supply collection networks, but these were not considered in this paper. Currently a range asset condition assessment frameworks, mainly based on defect location, identification, characterization. These infrequently applied practice, due to restricted availability inspection data. reviews current modeling highlights crucial need broader, richer data sets (including both surrounding environment data) inform development application such approaches. describes what could be as an expanded ideal set at network individual scale indicates emerging new technologies should capable meeting enhanced needs.
